What is this ring? What does it say about the finite field? This talk will be mostly elementary: Not much background beyond linear algebra will be necessary. The topic is based on work with Mats Boij, Bill Huang, and Greg Smith. The results are closely tied to the Singular Hodge theory for combinatorial geometries, as developed in work with Tom Braden, Jacob Matherne, Nick Proudfoot, and Botong Wang in https://arxiv.org/abs/1609.05484 and https://arxiv.org/abs/2010.06088.
